Tummy Time!

I can't believe how strong Everly is getting! She is not a fan of tummy time, so she only manages to stay on her belly for a couple minutes before freaking out! Her neck is getting very strong and her need to know everything that is going on helps her move her head around!

Yummy Hands!

Ever since Everly got her tongue tie revision, she has been exploring the new mobility in her tongue! She can't get enough of sucking on her hands now! She even attempts to get them both in at once!

Snow!

We had quite the snowfall over the weekend! It started snowing on Friday and didn't stop until late Monday! It piled up here at the farm! Darren even had to get the grader out to plow the driveway! The dogs absolutely love to run and play in the snow! Everly is a bit unsure about it... all she knows is that it is really bright on the eyes! We did manage to get out for a few walks in the snow too!

Bath and Bed Time

We have developed quite a great bedtime routine these days! I don't want to jinx it, but we have a super sleeper for a baby!!! On average, she sleeps from 8:30pm to 6:30/7:00am with no wake ups to feed! It is amazing to think that this 2.5 month old baby sleeps so well! Part of it probably has to do with having the same routine every night before bed! We always have a bath, which she absolutely loves, change into a new sleeper, and we cuddle and nurse in the rocker! She seems to know that it is bedtime and she falls right to sleep! Hopefully she keeps this up!!!

Discovering Her Hands!

Everly has now discovered that her hands are actually part of her body! She loves to suck on her hands and thumb. Ev loves to play with her activity center! She can now lay and play with the toys for quite a lot of time. She loves the book that hangs down. She can now grab it and squeeze it to hear it crinkle! I love to hear the sounds she makes as she plays and explores her hands and the toys!

Beautiful Day!

It was a beautiful day here today! Everly and I were able to get out and enjoy the sunshine on a nice walk with the dogs!

Brrrr!

We have had quite the cold snap here! Getting down to -12 degrees is cold for this neck of the woods! We even had our very own rink for pond hockey!

Tongue Tie

After 10 weeks of very painful nursing, Everly was diagnosed with a posterior tongue tie and a lip tie. This causes her to not be able to latch or use her tongue properly while nursing. This problem has led to some seriously damaged nipples for me! We went over to Vancouver on Feb. 13th to get the tongue tie and lip tie lasered by Dr. Chan. It was a long, stressful day but we all got through it. It was heartbreaking to hear her cries during the procedure and to see her in so much pain afterwards. Hopefully, getting it done, will lead to healing for me, better nursing for her and no speech or teeth problems in the future!

Quite The Personality!

Everly is definitely turning into a little person! She has developed quite the personality and has lots of funny facial expressions! Here are a few!

2 Months Old!

February 4th, 2014

I can't believe that Everly is already 2 months old! She is now smiling all the time and very interactive! She can follow your movements with her eyes and she is very curious of the world around her! One would say that she is quite the little busy body! She is up to 10 lbs. 9.5 oz. now!! She also went today to get her 2 month immunizations... that was not fun at all, for either of us!

The Bumbo and Jolly Jumper

Everly loves to sit in her Bumbo and watch us! She is often in it while we make dinner or eat dinner. It is really good for her to develop neck strength and control! She also loves her jolly jumper... Darren has been pestering me, basically since she was born, to put her in it! I was trying to follow "the rules" and wait until 3 months (that what "they" say is the age to start!)... One day, Darren just put Ev in it and she absolutely loved it! Who are "they" to say that you need to wait until 3 months???

New Quilt

A long-time family friend, Marlene Sawchuck, made this beautiful quilt for Everly! She loves to lay on it and watch the world around her!

Brother and Sister Love!

I wonder if they realize that they are not the same species??? They are just the best of friends! Again, there are no pictures with Blackjack because he doesn't want to be near her!!!

Our First Baby Group!

Now that things are getting into a normal routine (we are finally out of the blur that was the first month of life), we are going to different baby groups to keep ourselves occupied during the day while Darren is at work. The midwife clinic that we went to have a post partum group for all the ladies that have had their babies with them. It is a great place to go and chat about everything baby related... things you are excited about, things that are concerning you, and you can ask questions and get opinions. We really look forward to Wednesday afternoons now!

Another Playdate With Her Boyfriend Hunter!

It is so amazing having a best friend that has a baby so close in age to Everly! We get together for walks, tea, baby groups and get to spend quality time together with our little ones! Everly and Hunter shared Hunter's activity center and neither one got whopped in the head!!!
